ATHLETIC FACILITY PROPOSAL UPDATE
The Commission reviewed the letter sent to the City Council which was compiled by Sue
Anderson, giving ideas for alternatives to the proposed athletic facility plan. The City Council
responded by asking the Open Space and Recreation Commission to review the alternatives given
by Sue Anderson, and come back to the Council with a response by May 2nd.
Rick Bimo went through the information from Sue Anderson and explained areas of
contradiction. The discussion from the Commission centered around the fact that the proposal
made by the Athletic Facility Task Force utilized city -owned land to build a new facility and make
Lions Park available for youth participation.
It was mentioned that present l ghting at the parks impacts neighbors longer than softball lights at
Schaper would affect the resid nts on Killarney.
It was decided that the Commission would take the information home and call the Park and
Recreation office with suggestions to include in a response to the City Council. The document
will be finalized at the April meeting.
