park tour.
MINUTES
A motion was made by Rich Krahulec and seconded by Jim Sicora to approve the minutes of
April 28, 1997. Motion carried.
PARK TOUR
The following areas were toured:
A. Area B Development Site — there was some discussion on the site concept plan developed
by the Task Force. It shows two small park areas, one with a tot playground and another
for skateboard enthusiasts. Also included is a small gazabo.
B. Wesley Park
C. Medley Park
D. Medley Hills Townhome Site — the Commission walked this area using a site plan from a
developer proposing townhomes in the area just north of Medley Park. There was discus-
sion as to whether or not the City should pursue money in lieu of park land dedication
which included talk of a short trail connecting the development to Medley Park. Cur-
rently, access to the park is available via Ensign Avenue, as well as a trail connection to
the west. It was concluded that another trail connection was not necessary.
A motion was made by Tom Zins and seconded by Roger McConico to recommend that
the City accept money in lieu of land from the developer of the Medley Hills Town -
homes. Also, if the developer wishes to construct a trail, they may do so with consultation
from City staff. Motion carried unanimously.
E. Sandburg Complex
F. Bassett Creek Duluth Street Trail — a developer is seriously considering purchasing land
north of Duluth Street along Bassett Creek from which a trail easement would be neces-
sary.
G. Scheid Park
H. City Owned Lot — Adeline Lane cul-de-sac
The Commission walked this area. A few months ago, Floyd Anderson had requested
permission to buy this lot which is adjacent to his property.
A motion was made by Tom Zins and seconded by Chuck Cahill to recommend to the
City Council not to sell this property. Motion carried unanimously.
I. Sweeney Lake Access (Thotland Avenue)
J. Hidden Lakes
K. Wirth Park Prairie & Beach Area
L. Schaper Park — construction of the ballfields is progressing.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Chuck Cahill and seconded by Rich Krahulec to adjourn.
