Members present: Jim Johnson, Tom Zins, Roger McConico, Jim Sicora, Chuck Cahill, Linda
Loomis. Also present were Rick Jacobson, Sharyl Thompson, and Peter Steichen, a resident of
Golden Valley.
MINUTES — SEPTEMBER 28, 1998
A motion was made by Roger McConico and seconded by Chuck Cahill to approve the minutes
of September 28, 1998. Motion carried.
CORRESPONDENCE TO BE RECEIVED
A motion was made by Jim Sicora and seconded by Jim Johnson to receive a file correspondence
received.
BROOKVIE`V GOLF REPORT — KRIS TOVSON
Kris Tovson gave her annual golf report. This past season was very successful. A record number
of rounds were played, and weather conditions were ideal. This was the first year for
computerized reservations through "Ready Golf'. It has helped to cut down on no-shows.
Interest in the Junior Golf program continues to increase. About 100 names were still on the
waiting list when the league started.
As a fall promotion, coupons were available for golfing in September and October. This was
very successful in bringing in especially new golfers to Brookview.
Late last fall, the Grill was advertised as a meeting/party location for rent by residents,
businesses, etc. There was some response, but they expect to increase their rentals this fall and
winter.
The driving range improvements are on hold pending permission from MnDot to erect the poles
for the nets on their right-of-way.
At this point in the meeting, resident Peter Steichen asked questions pertaining to the golf course,
as far as improvements to retain the lower handicap golfers.
FEES & CHARGES
Golf Fees: Kris Tovson reviewed the proposed fees for 1999. Patron card fees did not change. A
motion was made by Jim Johnson and seconded by Chuck Cahill to approve the golf fees for
1999. Motion carried.
Recreation Fees: A motion was made by Roger McConico and seconded by Jim Sicora to
approved the recreation fees for 1999. Motion carried.
SKATE PARK SUMMARY
Rick Jacobson gave a report on the skate park from this past summer. It is the consensus of the
sponsoring cities to have it again next year but at fewer locations. Maple Grove would have it all
summer, and it would be split for six weeks between St. Louis Park and Golden Valley.
OLD BUSINESS
Brunswick/Dakata Buffer: Linda Loomis understood from talking to some neighbors in the area
that they are concerned that the street would be opened up to Laurel and a berm would be pre-
emptive to that occurring. There are no plans for that to occur. Linda will contact some residents
of the area to meet with a sub -committee of the Commission.
Honeywell: Honeywell is going before the Planning Commission to sub -divide their property.
The City has hired soil exploration consultants to check on pollution and stability conditions
before negotiations continue.
