INTRO TO COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
Rick Jacobson gave the Commissioners a copy of an introduction to the Park & Recreation
section of the Comprehensive Plan, as well as the City park and open space map to be included
with the Comprehensive Plan. He requested that the Commissioners review this and call into the
office with any changes or suggestions.
Linda Loomis requested that the Open Space & Recreation Commission be able to see the
revised introduction along with the previously discussed plan before it went to the Planning
Commission.
CITY -OWNED LOT — SOUTH END OF SWEENEY
City Council will be discussing this item at the Council/Manager work session on June Wh.
UPDATE OF HENNEPIN REGIONAL TRAIL
Rick Jacobson reported that Hennepin Parks has run into two complications that are holding up
the construction of the trail extension through Golden Valley. Calvary Center is concerned about
the entrance from their underground parking lot onto the street, and they would like additional
safety considerations to warn trail users of oncoming cars.
The second problem is just west of Schaper Park where the grade is too steep to meet ADA
requirements. Permission was requested from the apartment complex owners to have the trail
traverse the hill which gradually slopes down. A agreement could not be worked out, so
Hennepin Parks is now looking for other options.
