1-23-2001CITY OF GOLDEN VALLEY OPEN SPACE & RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES January 24 2001 Members Present: Linda Loomis, Tom Zins, Jim Vaughan, Jim Sicora, Chuck Cahill, Roger McConico and Jerry Sandler. Also present were Rick Jacobson, Director of Parks & Recreation; Sheila Elliott, Administrative Secretary; and Tom Klatt, Director of Public Works. Visitor present was Tony Riemensnider. AGENDA CHANGES OR ADDITIONS No changes or additions. APPROVAL OF MINUTES — October 23. 2000 & November 27. 2000 Approval of minutes moved by Jim Sicora and seconded by Jerry Sandler. Motion carried. PARK MAINTENANCE UPDATE — Tom Klatt. Director of Public Works 0 Tom Klatt discussed the activities of the Public Works department throughout this winter season. He then presented the Sidewalk/Trail Snow Removal Priority system for the city. He gave detailed information about the current Snow Removal system and then explained how the third priority of trails is incorporated. A motion was moved by Tom Zins to endorse the plan and was seconded by Jerry Sandler. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS 1) Adeline Lane Park — Rick Jacobson announced to the commission that the plan was discussed with the Council at the January 13th retreat. 2) Bassett Creek Nature Preserve — Linda Loomis explained that General Mills is going to look at an alternative way to cool their water. They are currently undecided if they are going to be donating the land. 3) Sheriff's Site — Tom Zins updated the commission on the work of the committee thus far. He explained that they are still generating ideas for the site and have scheduled an open house on Tuesday, February 6, 2001. 4) Meadowbrook Community Center — Rick Jacobson made the commission aware that the contracts were to be awarded by the school district and they will break ground shortly thereafter, with plans to have occupancy next fall. 5) Brunswick/Dakota Buffer — Rick Jacobson announced that this item is scheduled to be on the agenda for the February Council/Manager meeting. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Roger McConico and seconded by Jim Sicora to adjourn. Motion carried.
