Continuation of Open To Business Program Prepared By Jeanne Andre, Assistant City Clerk Summary The City has partnered with the City of New Hope to offer business consulting services through Open Ta Business. Attached you will find an overview of the Open to Business program and a report outlining services provided for the contract period from March 1 through Qecember 31, 2012. This program is offered to cities by the Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developers for an annual fee of$10,000 (which is split between partnering cities). Hennepin Caunty has agreed to underwrite fifty percent of this fee in 2013, as it did in 2012. So the cost for Golden Valley to continue participation for another year would be $2,500. The existing Golden Valley contract provides for services from March 1, 2012 to February 28, 2013. If New Hope and Golden Valley wish to continue the program beyond February 28, a new contract must be executed. If the Council supports continued participation in the program, two steps must be taken: 1. Adopt a resolution authorizing application for continued support from Hennepin County; and 2. Authorize execution of a new agreement with MCCD to provide the Open To Business program in Golden Valley and New Hope. These items would be placed on the January 15 Council agenda. State of the City Prepared By Cheryl Weiler, Cammunications Coordinator Summary 2013 State of the City Summary At the beginning of each year, the City presents a State of the City report to the community in video format. The report is narrated by the mayor and features video clips showing highlights of the previous year's events and activities as well as an introduction to upcoming activities. It is written by the City`s communications staff and produced by Northwest Community Television. To address the challenge of keeping the format fresh and engaging, staff is considering updating the State of the City to incorporate testimonials or comments from council members and community members. The goal is to involve citizens in telling the City's story in a more interactive manner. Staff is compiling the list of potential topics for the 2013 State of the City report, which will be available at the January 8 Councif/Manager meeting for discussion. 4'YY o,! ..I:Fi ). ✓ bF City Administration/Council 763-593-8003/763-593-8109(fax) ,.. . ._ °'u...,'.=. .<. . ... .,^;,^,Plhi.... = u''e ad1a.$Iiii wlil(' , . . ... ,.':'A.i li Ihiis`'_.... :. . . .
