Meeting of The Civil Service Coi*mision at Village Civic Center, called
I to order at 10:00 A.M.
Members present; Hans Reiss, John Enghauser and Al Blasing.
A request from the Village Council to the effect that The Commission
certify a patrolman from the Police Department, to become permanent
Police Chief, was presented and discussed.
MOTION by Blasing, Second by Reiss, that The Commission hold an examination
for the position of Police Chief, under the Rules & Regulations of the
Cow -mission (Sect, 13 and Sect. 21) be conducted at the Village Civic Center
on October 23, 1959 between the hours of 8:00 A.M and 4:30 P.M., passed
unanimously. The Secretary was instructed to take the necessary steps
to legally publish notice of such examination in The Suburban Press and
post notice of same at the Civic Center. Secretary also instructed to
procure proper examination papers from the State, through the Village
Adminstrator.
MOTION by Blasing, Second by Reiss, that the above examination be a
Promotional Examination only, limited to present members of the Village
Police Force, passed unanimously.
MOTION by Blasing, Second by Enghauser, that applicants who pass the
written examinationaabove mentioned be notified at least ten days in
advance of an oral examination to be conducted by members of the Civil
Service Commission, passed unanimously.
MOTION by Enghauser, second by Blasing, that the Commission proceed to
set up Rules & Regulations governing the job classifications and speci-
fications covering the positions of Captain, Leutenant and Sargent, within
the Village Police Department, and to subsequently notify the Village
Council that such p6sitions were not filled, passed unanimously. The
Chairman then appointed commissioner Blasing to draw up preliminary
rules & regulations to cover and present at the next meeting of the
Commission.
MOTION to adjourn by Enghauser, second by Blasing, passed unanimously.
