Minutes of Civil Service Commission
Meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held at the Village
Hall at 4:30 P. M., October 13, 1960.
Members present: Chm. Enghauser, Secretary Blasing, Comm. Reiss,
Roger Ulstad, the Village Manager was invited
as a guest.
Upon questioning by Chm. Enghauser, Mr. Ulstad stated that he
was informed by Patrolman Stein that a satisfactory method had
been worked out between them for the liquidation of Stein's
indebtedness to his various creditors. Stein has already s6ld
his 1958 Oldsmobile and Mr. Ulstad feels that the plan will work
out to the best interests of all concerned.
Secretary Basing stated that arrangements had been made for the
Civil Service examinations to be given to applicants for the
position of patrolmen. He suggested that the date of November

26, 1960 be reserved at Meadov.brook School for holding the
examinations. The starting time to be 9 A.M. and running to
11:30 A. M.
Chm. Enghauser moved, Reiss seconded that the above be accepted,
carried unanimously.
A discussion followed relative to the needs for a sergeant and
it was agreed by the Commission that a sergeant was needed and
that we would hold promotional examination from within the depart-
ment for all eligible patrolmen in accordance with the rules and
regulations of the Civil Service Commission. Comm. Reiss moved,
Enghauser seconded, that such examination be held concurrently
with the above examination by patrolmen,except in a different
room, carried unanimously.
It was suggested at this time by Secretary Blasing that the oral
examination of the successful applicants be conducted on December
10, 1960 at Meadowbrook school and December 17th, 1960 at the
Village Hall at which time the successful sergeant candidates
would also be interviewed. Enghauser so moved, Rebs seconded,
carried unanimously.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned..
