The advertisement has previously been placed in the morning and

advertisement will be placed in next Sunday Tribune's sport page,
and in various out of town papers at Chairman Erickson's dis-
cretion.
3 State Civil Service Commissioner John Jackson has been asked by
Chairman Erickson when the request for veterans preference should
be submitted. Mr Jackson's opinion was that they should be sub-
mitted following the written examination. After considerable
discussion, the Commission agreed to seal these requests in an
envelope to be opened after the combined grades have been es-
tablished.
it 4 The changes in the veterans preference law was considered. In
promotional examinations the law now provides that five points
are to be added to a veterans examination grade before or after
the examination by election of the candidate. However, the five
point advantage can be used only once in gaining a promotion.
