The minutes were approved as corrected.
The "statement of responsibilities" was reviewed. After changes, it will be
presented at the next meeting.
The procedure to fill the position of Lieutenant was discussed. The various
dates were reviewed; the advertisements were discussed; and the Commission
reviewed the written and oral exam plans. The position will be opened around
March 20, 1972, and we hope to have a recommendation by mid-July.
The Director of Public Safety reported an item from the Village Council meet-
ing of February 23. The minutes of the Council read:
"Moved by Paulson, seconded by Stockman, carried, to request a
representative from the Human Rights Commission to present a report
within 60 days on the raising of educational requirements for
policemen."
In view of the renewed interest in this item, the Police Civil Service Commis-
sion decided to postpone action on further changes in educational requirements.
The Commission requested the Public Safety Director to keep informed of this
matter.
The Commission received a reply to its request of the Village Attorney. The
letter of March 8, 1972, from Robert Skare explains the legal status of
eligibility rosters in view of possible changes in educational requirements.
The meeting was adjourned.
