09-13-00 CC Minutes Special Meeting Special Meeting of the City Council September 13, 2000 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Golden Valley, Hennepin County, Minnesota was held at 7800 Golden Valley Road in said City on September 13, 2000 at 6:45 p.m. The following members were present: Anderson, Bakken, Johnson, LeSuer and Micks. Also present were: William Joynes, City Manager; and Patricia Butler, Administrative Secretary. Certification of 2001 Proposed Tax Levy William Joynes and Don Taylor, Finance Director, introduced the agenda item and answered questions from the Council. MOVED by Bakken, seconded by Johnson and motion carried unanimously to approve the proposed tax levy for 2001. 2001 Proposed Gross Levy General Fund Operating Levy $7,089,500 Street Improvement Levy -0- Park Improvement Levy 210,000 Bonded Debt Levy 2,585,000 Total 2001 Proposed Gross Levy $9,884,500 Less: 2001 Homestead and Agricultural Credit Aid (HACA) (1,759,645) Net Levy $8,124,855 Additional Levy - Council Options 109,340 Total 2001 Proposed Net Levy $8,234,195 Call for Initial Public Hearing and Continuation Public Hearing - 2001 Budgets - General, Water and Sewer Utility, Brookview Golf, Conservation/Recycling, Human Services Foundation, Storm Sewer Utility, Vehicle Maintenance, Electronic Communication & Motor Vehicle Licensing Funds) William Joynes and Don Taylor, Finance Director, introduced the agenda item and answered questions from the Council. MOVED by Micks, seconded by Bakken and motion carried unanimously to set November 29, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. as the date for the initial public hearing for the formal Truth in Taxation public hearing. The Council will set the public hearing to be held in October and budget workshop dates at the next City Council Meeting. Staff will recomimend dates and times for the budget workshops and public hearing.
