The meeting was called to order by the president Geo. E Hanson

Motion by Moe seconded by Reiss that the minutes stand approved
as read.

Motion by Reiss seconded by Moe that cigarette licenses be
granted to Geo. Kusch and Theo. Wirth Chalet,

A road Boss and Treasurers reports were read and filed.
The president recommended that the following persons be appoint
to the Golden Valley Planning Commisiion Dr. Sylvester Koontzt
Clazznce Shererp H.H. Blosj*o) Paul Seeman, Harold Swenson,
Rodney Jackbeon, Lester Elstad and Roy Hensler) their term to
expire Dec.31p1947.
Motion by Wilson seconded by roe that the recommendadion of the
President be accepted and the previous named by him be appointed

The President recommended that the Village books be audited.
The President appointed Raymond T.-Raskop Civil Service
Commissioner for a three year term.

The President recommended that Carl Quist be appointed Justice
of the Peace to succeed Wm Sweeney. Following discussion the
President stated that he had in his possession the resignation
of Mr. Sweeney, which he had received in January or February
The Village Atturney stated that in his opinbon the office
of Justice of the peace was vacated if and when a resignation
was received, and that it likewise was vacated upon failure
of the incumbant to file his bond with in the prescribed time.
Motion by Reiss seconded by Moe that Carl Quist be appointed
Justice of the Peace to fill the unex ired term of Wm Sweeney.

Motion by Reiss seconded by Frandsen that common labor receive
750 per hour and truck drivers 850 per.hour during that year

$50.00 per month instead of $35.00 per month with addition
compensation to be paid for any extensive work.

the books for the period from Jan.1;1944 to Dec.31,1944

A letter from Mrs Finn resigning from the Golden Valley Planning
Commission was read and filed.
Motion by Reiss seconded by Frandsen that the Clerk be instructed
to send a letter of thanks to Mrs Finn . Mrs Finn be informed that
the Village Council accepted her resignation with regret and
unanimously thanked her for her long and efficient service on
the Commission.

to the Golden Valley Planning Commission to fill the unexpired

A letter from the Golden Valley Planning 6rOmmission2 recommending
that a nermit for the building of a cement block factory on the
Droperty north of rdicine Lake Rd and West of the Belt Line)
known as the I&osher property, be denied, was read and filed.
Motion by Moe seconded by Reiss that the question of a hermit for
a cement block factory be tabled until the Village Attorney hears
from the AttorneX General.

The President declared a public hearing on the vacating of a certain
,portion of Janalyn Rd.
No one appeared in favor of the vacating.
Mr. Paul Enghauser stated that a water pocket would form along
Janalyn Rd because of the'Dresent layout of lanalyn Rd, and stated
his opposition vacating of the road until the drainage problem
had been solved*
The Village Attorney stated that in his opinion the drainage problem
should be solved before vacation of the road nrt't't-aUa:7ly
if the
pititionere were in no hurry to vacate the road,
-�4 Mr. Reiss moved the adoption of the following resolution:
Wheras a petition signed by a majority of owners of land abUtting
on the part of Janalyn Rd hereinafter described have petitioned
for the vacation of such part of said Janalyn Rd ,and, -
Whereas, one week's'published and posted notice having been given
of a hearing to be had on daid petition., which hearing was Yield
on th e 18th day of January, 1945) and it appearing that the
vacation of said Dart of Janalyn Rd if for the interest of the Public,
Mow, therefore ,be it resolved by the Village Council of the
Village of Golden Valley that
"All that Dart of Janalyn Rd in the Plat of GlenUrban Second
Addition that lies northerly and easterly of the following described
line) to wit: Beginning at the Southwest corner of lot 37) Block 6
in said GlenUrban SAdbldo,,-Addition thence East along the South line
( 2) Jan.16;1945
of said lot 37 a distance of 40 feet; thence southeasterly on a
tangential curve to the right with a radius of 143.32 feet, a
distance of 128.4 feet; thence southeasterly on a line tangent
to last described described curve a distance of 6.6 feet to a
point in the East line df said Glenurban Second Addition which
point is 59.4 feet South of the Southeast corner of lot 38)
Block six) in said addition be and hereby is vacated.
Mr. Wilson seconded the said motion.

Motion by Reiss seconded by Frandsen to adopt the following
resolution: Be it resolved; that the contract submitted by the
Suburban Henn. County Relief Board of the County of Hennepin
for the administration and supervision of poor relief in the
Village of Golden Valley be accepted and approved; and
Be if further resolved; that the proper officers of said Village
of Golden Valley be directed to execute said contract in dupl—
icate and when executed to return one of said contracts to the
Suburban Henn. County Relief Board.

Motion by Reiss seconded by Moe that a first reading be given
to the following intitled ordinance"An ordinance establishing
a Bureau of Fire Prevention and Prescribing regulations for fire
prevention and life safety in connection with hazardous materials
and Processes, adopting by reference certain regulations for the
construction and equipment of buildings and for fire -prevention)
and providing a penalty for violation.

The clerk gave the first reading of the above ordinance.
Motion by Moe seconded by Reiss that the Village Attorney be
instructed to request Representative Haig and Senator Miller to
author and support passage of the bill which nermit Villages to
adopt ordinances by reference without question of their validity
and that both ReDresentative Haig and Senator Miller be urged to
support that bill which would return a nortion of the gross earninp
tax to municipalities and further that both Representative Haig
and Senator Miller be informed that the Village is onnosit to
passage of any legislature which would take traffic violation
