07-06-49 Special MeetingJuly s, 1949 The Council of the Village of Golden valley met as a 'Board of Tax Review at the Village Hall at 7:30 p.m. "Tednesday, July s, with the following members present: Clerk Putnam, Trustees Pinch and Reiss. Absent: Mayor Stasel, Trustee Stark. Trustee Reiss was acting chairman of the meeting. Mr. Roy Haeg, County Supervisor of Assessments, exnla.ined to the Board of Review the tax structure and the need for equalization of real and personal property taxes in the Village. .He stated that the County has aerial nhotogranhs of the entire County and is now photographing each divelling and building in all villages and towns of the County as an aid in the assessment process. He said Golden Valley was being compared with surrounding villages as an aid in equalizing personal property taxes. Mr. Haeg gave comparative figures on the number of properties on the assessment rolls for several past years and the increase in 1948 over previous years. For Golden Valley in 1948 there were 1228 improved real estate properties with 982 claims for homestead exemption. The following persons appeared at the meeting; and directed questions from the floor: Donald Kurvers, 4724 Sixth Avenue N. Yr. gurvers was informed to carry his question through the County Auditor's office on the abatement procedure. G. Steffen, 1100 Winnetka Avenue Mr. Zwick Mr. Feffercorn. The problems of each of the above were answered by r,!r. Lee, the Village Assessor. The question of the Village Assessorts pay was also raised. err. Kane read the Attorney Generalfs opinion of June 10, 1949, relating to payment of assessors in Hennepin County. Motion by Pinch, seconded by Putnam and carried to adjourn. Discussion centered on the need for gravel loading equipment. motion by Pinch seconded by Putnam carried to advertise in the Construction Pulletin for a crawler type diesel tractor, 30 drawbar h.p. or more, equipped with a front end loader of the hydraulic or cable type with a 3/4 cu. yd. or larger material bucket, and also to adver- tise for a nneumatic-tire trailer with 6 to 8 -ton capacity, suitable for hauling a tractor loader.
