10-11-54 Special MeetingSPECIAL MEETING
of the
VILLAGE COUNCIL
October 11, 1954
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of the
Village Council of the Village of Golden Valley, Hennepin County,
Minnesota, was held on the 11th day of October, 1954s at 8:00
o'clock P.M. The following members were present: Huebsch, Rahn,
and Stark, and the following were absent: Bies and Foss. The
Mayor called the meeting to order at 8:00 o'clock P.M.
Watermain Improvement: The Administrative Assistant presented
and read the letter written by the Village Attorney on October
5, 1954, to Mr. T. J. Parrent, representative of the General
Motors Corporation, (See minutes of October 5, 1954) and read
the addendum incorporated into said letter.
MOVED by -Stark seconded by Rahn carried that said letter and the
addendum thereto be accepted.
Mr. T. J. Parrent was present, and stated on question, that he
understood that in the above mentioned correspondence the word
"construction" meant actual digging.
Resolution Calling For Advertisement For Bids: Member Stark
introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
"RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND ORDERING
ADVERTISE14ENT FOR BIDS"*
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was
duly seconded by Member Rahn and upon vote being taken thereon,
the following members voted in favor thereof: Huebsch, Rahn and
Stark, and the following voted against the same: None, whereupon
said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by
the Mayor and attested by the Clerk. See Resolution Book page

Watermain Connection To Minneapolis Watermain: The Council
instructed the Administrative Assistant, the Engineer (Mr. Mayeron
was present) and the Village Attorney to attend the next
meeting of the Building and Grounds Committee of the Minneapolis
City Council, and then.and there to make formal demandthat the
City of Minneapolis agree to connect the proposed 12 inch water -
main of Golden Valley to the forty-eight inch Watermain of the
City of Minneapolis at the approximate intersection of France.
Avenue North and Olson Memorial Highway, and that said Water -
main connection be made within the next six weeks.
Sanitary Sewer Construction in Minneapolis: The Administrative
Assistant was instructed to request information from the City
Engineer of the City of Minneapolis as to when Minneapolis would
undertake the construction of that portion of :Sanitary Sewer
Improvement No. 1 lying within the limits of the City of Minnea-
polis, and further to verify that Golden Valley had been granted
permission totemporarily connect its interceptor to a twelve
inch sewer line at the edge of Minneapolis should said City not
have constructed its portion of Sanitary Sewer Improvement No. 1
at the time Golden Valley wishes to use the interceptor.
The Administrative Assistant was instructed to advise the G. M.
'Orr Engineering Company to proceed with working plans and
specifications for the construction of a 12 inch watermain
improvement on Olson Memorial Highway between France Avenue North
and T.H. 100.
MOVED by Rahn seconded by Stark carried that the meeting adjourn.
