VILLAGE COUNCIL
July 5, 1955
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Village
Council of the Village of Golden Valley, Hennepin County, Minnesota, was
held in said Village on the 5th day of July 1955, at 7:30 otclock P.M.
The following members were present: Bies, Foss, Nada.sdy, Stark, and the
following members were absent: Rahn. The Mayor called the meeting to order
at 7:35 o'clock P.M.
MOVED by Foss seconded by Stark carried that the reading of the minutes of the
meeting held on July 1, 1955 be dispensed with until the next regular meeting
of July 19, unless some member of the audience wishes them read. (The minutes
were not read.)
Request from A. D. Strong Cot Mr. Mooty presented a letter (referred to at
the meeting of July 1, 19 to the Village Council, which was read by
Attorney Kane.
MOVED by Stark seconded by Bies carried that the letter with proper seal
and signature be accepted.
Member Foss abstained from voting.
Said letter is to be put on file and a copy of it given to Mr. Pinch, the
Village Assessor.
Audit Report - Lonegren, Brackett and Freeman: MOVED by Foss seconded.by
Lark carried that the bill from Lonegren, Brackett and Freeman be paid,
Bids - Petroleum Products: The Village Attorney presented an affidavit of
publication of notice of call for bids for the purchase of petroleum pro-
ducts according to specifications. Said affidavit was examined, approved
and ordered placed on file,
The Mayor announced that this was the time and place for opening and consid-
eration of sealed bids for the purchase of said petroleum, in accordance with
the notice of advertisement for bids published by the attorney and hereto-
fore presented to this::Council.
Mr. Stark presented to the Council two sealed bids submitted in the course of
said notice. Said bids were opened, publicly read and Stanley Kane, Village
Attorney, asked that said bids must be rejected as they do not follow specifi-
cations.
MOVED by Bies seconded by Stark carried that thetwo bids be rejected as sub-
mitted by the Standard Oil Company and the Sinclair Refining Company,

Special Assessments - Topel:
MOVED by Foss seconded by Stark carried that the administrative office call
Mrs. Topel and find out which of the two alternatives presented by the Village
Council she prefersied.thershe can receive a refund on the amount she has paid
on Sanitary Sewer No. 1, or it will be deducted from her assessment and the
remainder will be spread over the remaining -;;nineteen years. Her total assess-
ment for Sanitary Sewer No. 1 is S 3,052.58 which was figured on an acreage
basis.
Tank Truck for Fire Department: The Council asked that Member Bies and Lyle
Larson look at a truck suggested by the Fire Department for the Fire Depart -
mend and give a report to the Village Council.
Plats Final Approval: Hampshire Oaks 3rd Addition and Golden Oaks lith Addition -
tabled until next meeting.
England and Sweeney Plat:
MOVED by Stark seconded by Foss carried that the people in the area be noti-
fied in writing or by phone regarding their opinion on proposed Mormon
church. Also, contact church about proposals.
Licenses:
MOVED by Stark seconded by Bies carried that two pinball machine licenses
be granted to
Clara J. Schuller, Schuller's Taveran, 7345 Sixth
Avenue North.
Equipment for Street Program:
MOVED by Stark seconded by Foss carried that Bies and Ogard, the Village
Engineer, prepare specifications for equipment necessary at the present time,
and that it be ready for advertising in Construction Bulletin July 7th, 1955.
A Copy of the specifications is to be given to each member of the Council.
Request of Frank Rekucki for Multiple Dwelling: The Council referred Mr.
kucki to the Planning ommission for the meeting of July 14th for his
request for a multiple dwelling at Glenwood and Highway 100.
Twin City Rapid Tvansit Co.
MOVED by Bies seconded by� Stark carried that theiequest for a bus line to
the Glenwood Hills Hospital entrance be granted Twin City Rapid Transit Co.
Bills:
MOVED by Bies seconded by Stark carried to approve the following bills with
the exception of Dan Lynch's,the building inspector and the bill for the
