SPECIAL MEETING
of the
VILLAGE COUNCIL
December 9, 1957
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a Special Meeting of the Village
Council of the Village of Golden Valley, Hennepin County, Minnesota, was
held at 8030 Olson Memorial Highway in said Village on December 9, 1957,
at 7:30 o'clock P. M. The following members were present: Bies, Flannagan,
Nadasdy, Teresi; and the following was absent: Stark.
The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:45 otclock P. M.
Present were Acting Village Administrator and Clerk Donald Sorensen, Village
Attorney Stanley Kane, Deputy Cleik Helen Penniman.
Res Retroactive Payer:
IUVED by Flannagan seconded by Teresi carried that the salary of each full-
time regular employee of the Village, excepting the Road Department receive
a pay increase of 9% retroactive to January 1, 1957, said increase to be
computed on the basis of the salary earned by each employee in 1957, inclu-
ding overtime, and further, that this motion shall apply to those employees
who are on the Village payroll on November 19, 1957.
Salary for Arno Denzin and Everett Frandsen.-
MVED by Teresi seconded by Bies carried that Arno Denzin, Street Superin-
tendent and Everett Frandsen, Acting Chief -of -Police receive $600.00 more
in pay for the year 1957, than the next highest paid man in their respect-
ive department. Further that the Street Superintendent and Acting Chief -
of -Police shall receive $550.00 per month during the year 1958.
Re: Finance Officer Salary:
LOVED by Bies seconded by Flannagan carried that the Finance Officer shall
receive no retroactive pay for the year 1957, and that the monthly salary
shall be $550.00 for 1958.
Re: Department Heads Salaries:
MJVED by Bies seconded by Flannagan carried that the Village Engineer receive
a pay increase of 9% retroactive to January 1, 1957, said increase to be
computed on the basis of the salary earned during 1957, and shall receive a
monthly salary of $700.00 for 1958; that the Village Assessor receive a pay
increase of 9% retroactive to January 1, 1957, said increase to be computed
on the basis of the salary earned during 1957, and shall receive a monthly
salary of $425.00 for 1958; that the Village Sewer and Water Superintendent
receive a pay increase of 9% retroactive to January 1, 1957, said increase
to be computed on the basis of the salary earned during 1957, and shall
receive a monthly salary of $525.00 for 1958; that the Special Assessment
Clerk receive a pay increase of 9% retroactive to January 1, 1957, said
increase to be computed on the basis of the salary earned during 1957, and
shall receive a monthly salary of $425.00 for 1958.

Re: 1956 Retroactive Pay of Donald Boll, Assistant to Engineer:
MVED by Bies seconded by Flannagan carried to pay the sum of $195.50
retroactive pay for the year 1956, as per minutes of Special Meeting, April
23, 1956•
Engineerts Aides, Snetsing�er and Johnson:
NDVED by Bies seconded by Flannagan carried that the Engineer's Aides,
Snetsinger and Johnson receive a pay increase of 9% retroactive to January 1,
1957, said increase to be computed on the basis of the salary earned during
1957; that each of the above mentioned Engineer's shall receive a monthly
salary of $436.00 for 1958.
Retroactice pay for hourly employees of Road Department:
NVVED by Teresi seconded by Flannagan carried emloyees on a hourly basis in
the Road Department receive retroactive pay increase for 1957 on the same
basis as the remainder of the street department.
Re: Part-time Inspectors:
MVVED by Flannagan seconded by Bies carried that the Part-time Inspectors
receive a pay increase of 9, retroactive to January 1, 1957, said increase to
be computed on the basis of the salary earned during 1957.
MVED by Teresi seconded by Bies carried that all retroactive pay checks be
added to the prelist and submitted at the meeting of December 17, 1957•
Meetings with Departrr�ent Heads:
INEVED by Teresi seconded by Bies carried that the Council will meet with
Department Heads quarterly during the year 1958•
Re: Christmas Tree License fee, Roy Tammi, Golden Hills Shopping Center:
14DVED by Flannagan seconded by Teresi carried to refund the license fee for
Christmas Tree License, located at Golden Hills Shopping Center, license #133
upon request of Mr. Tammi providing he has not operated at the location des-
ignated on said license.
Facsimile Signatures:
All present agreed to add the above matter to the agenda.
Member Bies introduced the following resolution and NDVED its adoption:
"RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FACSIMILE SIGNATURES"
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
Member Flannagan, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in
favor thereof; Bies, Flannagan, Nadasdy, Teresi;
and the following voted against the same: None;
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the
Mayor, and his signature attested by the Clerk. See Resolutions Book pageV&46�

Special Meeting of the Village Council, December 9, 1957
Proposal of Village Attorney to settle Fedyk Road Easements:.
The Village Attorney presented a request for settlement of Fedyk road
easements.
MVED by Bies seconded by Flannagan carried to authorize the Village Attorney
to settle this claim for the amount of $1,350.00, conditioned upon moving the
house back to conform with setback requirements.
Haarstick, Lundgren and Associates.-
All
ssociates:
All present agreed to add the above matter to the agenda. A letter December
5, 1957 from Haarstick, Lundgren and Associates was read by the Village
Attorney. The matter was deferred to the meeting of December 17, 1957.
Lease of Library Premises:
NDVED by Teresi seconded by Bies carried to instruct the Village Attorney to
negotiate a lease on the site chosen by the Library Board.
MOVED by Teresi seconded by Bies carried to adjourn the meeting.
