CITY COUNCIL
September 22, 1975
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the City
Council of the City of Golden Valley, Hennepin County, Minnesota was held
at 7800 Golden Valley Road in said City on September 22, 1975 at 7:30 P.M.
Those present were: Anderson, Bix, Hoover, Swartz and Thorsen. Also pre-
sent were City Manager, Barkley G. Omans, Director of Administrative Services,
John F. Murphy and City Clerk Mary H. Marske.
1976 Budget:
The City Clerk presented an affidavit showing publication in the official
newspaper of the Notice of Public Hearing on the proposed 1976 Budget. Said
affidavit was then examined, approved and ordered filed in the office of
the City Clerk.
The Mayor then opened the public hearing.
Mr. G. Burton Brown representing the Park & Recreation Commission was present
to request additional budget allocations for (1) continuation of the C.E.T.A.
funded maintenance employee, (2) purchase of a truckster for trail maintenance,
(3) creation of a Recreation Program Contingency Fund, (4) Teen Program for
neighborhood parks, (5) an Open Space Consultant and (6) lighting of several
tennis courts.
Mr. Ron Haskvitz representing the Human Rights Commission requested additional
funds to provide for an increase in the consultant fee.
Mrs. Mary Bowman and Mr. Paul St. Marie requested an additional budget alloca-
tion for purchase of the Valley D'Or property as open space and included a
slide presentation showing the property.
Mr. Roger Nygaard of the Animal Humane Society was present to request a contri-
bution to the Society for inclusion in the 1976 Budget.
The Council also determined to consider a request received in the form of a
letter from the Suburban Hennepin County Nursing Service for an increase in
the 1976 Budget.
The Mayor then closed the public hearing.
The Council adjourned at 12:00 a.m., to reconvene ptem e 24, 1975 for
further consideration of the 1976 Budget.
