Special Meeting
Of The
City Council June 19, 1979
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the City Council of
the City of Golden Valley, Hennepin County, Minnesota was held at 7800 Golden
Valley Road in said City on June 19, 1979 at 4:15 p.m.
The following members were present: Anderson, Hoover, Johnson, Stockman and
Thorsen. Also present were: City Manager, Jeff Sweet.
1980 Budget Procedures
The Mayor will prepare a memo detailing Council procedures relative to preparation
of the 1980 budget for review by the Council on July 2, 1979.
Community Center
The Council reviewed the concept drawing of a 18,750 square foot senior/community
center located at Highway #55 and Winnetka. The Council determined that it would
be appropriate to refer this to the Open Space and Recreation Commission.
Resemary Thorsen will draft a letter of referral to the Open Space and Recreation
Commission for Council review on July 2, 1979.
Pool Repa i r
MOVED by Thorsen, seconded by Johnson and carried to authorize Thompson Air
Conditioning to install an oversized heater and remove the oil boiler in the amount
of $9,680. Hoover and Stockman voted nay.
Quotations for Repair of Garage
MOVED by Stockman, seconded by Johnson and carried to accept the quote from
D. J. Kranz in the amount of $1,950 as the low quote.

1979 Dutch Elm Program
The City Manager reviewed with the Council options
for use of
the estimated
$16,000 of state funds which will be available for
the dutch
elm program.
MOVED by Anderson, seconded by Johnson and carried
to approve
the concept of
returning any state funds received by the City for
dutch elm
removal directly
to homeowners who have had trees removed and further to have
the Open Space &
Recreation Commission prepare a recommendation to
the Council
on the formula
for returning these funds to the honeowners.
