Public Hearinq - 87 SI 4 - (Street Improvement) - Laurel Avenue
Lowell Odland presented the project.
The Mayor opened the meeting for public input and persons present to do so were
afforded the opportunity to express their views thereon.
Brad Steinman, 5901 Laurel Avenue, questioned if the assessment will effect his
property, and asked if they plan to install street lights.
Delores Rozman, 400 Dakota Avenue South, she would like an assurance that the
residential property will not be assessed and asked when the project will be
completed.
Dianne Asproth, 340 Dakota Avenue South, she questioned what type of barracade
will be installed on Laurel and had questions regarding the trail construction.

Glen Eiden, 345 Brunswick Avenue South, he is in support of keeping Laurel
Avenue barricaded during the construction of I-394 and stated he appreciates the
plantings installed on Laurel Avenue.
The t1ayor closed the public hearing.

Lowell Odland presented the project.
The Mayor opened the meeting for public input and persons present to do so were
afforded the opportunity to express their views thereon.
Howard Held, 1100 Welcone Avenue, he is a new resident and is in favor of project.
Charlie Lazer, 5620 Phoenix Street, would like to know the completion date of
the project and would like to see the street maintained.
The Mayor closed the public hearing.

• Mayor Anderson introduced the agenda item and requested the Council Members
drive by the area where the sign is being requested.
MOVED by Bakken, seconded by Thompson and notion carried unanimously to receive
and file the letter from John Holten, dated June 18, 1987 and refer to staff
for a report.
Mayor Anderson requested staff to bring back reports on any other signage requests
that are on file.
Jane Toleno, 545 Rhode Island Avenue North, thanked the Council and staff for
the installation of the blind person crossing sign on Gettysburg.

Peggy Leppik, Marti Flicks, Ann Morgan and Mary Hepokoski, representing the League
of Women Voters showed regarding recycling prepared by the League. They also
reviewed their report on the adoption of a source separation recycling plan
for Golden Valley and answered questions from the Council. There were also
representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and the Golden Valley Women's Club.
William Joynes outlined Golden Valley's recycling plan. The Council held a
general discussion regarding a recycling plan for the City.
*Appointment to Hopkins School District Community Services Advisory Council
MOVED by Johnson, seconded by Thompson and motion carried unanimously to appoint
Lee Feinstein as Golden Valley's representative to the Hopkins School District
Community Services Council.
Appointment to Open Space and Recreation Commission
Mayor Anderson recommended the Council appoint Patricia Borchert to the Open
Space and Recreation Commission.
MOVED by Stockman, seconded by Thompson and motion carried unanimously to
appoint Patricia Borchert to the Open Space and Recreation Commission for a
. two year term to expire Harch 1, 1990.
Regular Fleeting of the City Council July 7, 1987
G.T.S. Summer Leadership Institute for Elected Officials
• MOVED by Bakken, seconded by Thompson and motion carried unanimously that the
City will pay for any Council Member who wishes to attend the G.T.S. Summer
Leadership Institute for Elected Officials.
The Council, by consensus, authorized the Mayor to receive reimbursement for
Advisory Committee meetings she attends regarding the development of general
economic development policy for the state.
