City Council
September 14, 1999
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the City Council of the City of
Golden Valley, Hennepin County, Minnesota was held at 7800 Golden Valley Road in said
City on September 14, 1999 at 6:45 p.m.
The following members were present: Anderson, Bakken (arrived at 7:13 p.m.), Johnson,
LeSuer and Micks. Also present were: William Joynes, City Manager; and Patricia Butler,
Administrative Secretary.
Certification of 2000 Proposed Tax Levy
William Joynes and Don Taylor, Finance Director, introduced the agenda item and
answered questions from the Council.
MOVED by LeSuer, seconded by Johnson and motion carried unanimously to approve the
proposed tax levy for 2000. Council Member Bakken was absent.
2000 Proposed Gross Levy
General Fund Operating Levy $6,535,000
Street Improvement Levy 200,000
Park Improvement Levy 220,000
Bonded Debt Levy 2,265,085
Total 2000 Proposed Gross Levy $9,220,085
Less: 2000 Homestead and Agricultural Credit Aid (HACA) (1,759,215)
Net Levy $7,460,870
Additional Levy - Council Options 109,500
Total 2000 Proposed Net Levy $7,570.370
Call for Initial Public Hearing and Continuation Public Hearing - 2000 Budgets -
General, Water and Sewer Utility, Brookview Golf, Conservation/Recycling, Human
Services Foundation, Storm Sewer Utility, Vehicle Maintenance, Electronic
Communication & Motor Vehicle Licensing Funds)
William Joynes and Don Taylor, Finance Director, introduced the agenda item and
answered questions from the Council.
MOVED by Johnson, seconded by LeSuer and motion carried unanimously to set
December 6, 1999 at 7:30 p.m. as the date for the initial public hearing for the formal Truth
in Taxation public hearing.

MOVED by Micks, seconded by Johnson and motion carried unanimously to set
December 14, 1999 at 7:30 p.m. as the date for the continuation public hearing (if
needed).
The Council will set the budget workshop dates at the next City Council Meeting.

The Mayor adjourned the meeting at 7:20 p.m.
