#047 05-04-54 Establish Election Districts76 RESOLUTION ADOPTED by the Village Council Resolution No. Liz May 4, 195 Member Rahn introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption. RESOLUTION CHANGING AND ESTABLISHING ELECTION DISTRICTS AND POLLING PLACES WHEREAS the Village Council of the Village of Golden Valley finds that it is necessary to divide and re -arrange and establish election districts in accordance with the law for such case made and provided. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Village Council of the Village of Golden Valley as follows: 1. Election districts previously established are hereby abolished and the Village is hereby divided into the following described and designated election districts and polling places and said districts are established as set forth below: (a) District No, 1. That area bounded on the east by June Avenue North and by June Avenue North extended s�ut ier�1 oto de al e �, Road,ounr`3ed o�n �ieb'e�'"T: to. 100, and bounded on the north by the most northern boundary of the Village (34th Avenue North). Polling place: Noble Avenue School, 2601 Noble Avenue North. (b) District No. 2. That area bounded on the east by Xerxes Avenue North and by Xerxes Avenue North extended southerly to the Minneapolis, Northfield and Southern right of way, bounded on the south by the Minneapolis, Northfield and Southern right of way, bounded on the west by T. H. No. 100, bounded on the north by Golden Valley Road to a point where June Avenue North extended intersects Golden Valley Road, thence the west boundary of District No. 2 shall be said June Avenue North extended northerly to the north boundary of the Village, and bounded on the north by the north boundary of the Village (26th Avenue North adLd 26th Avenue North extended to June Avenue North extended). Folling Place: St. Margaret Marys School, 2300 Zenith Avenue North. (c) District No. 3. That area bounded on the east by the 1 east boundary of the Village, bounded on the south by Glen- wood Avenue (County Road No. 40), bounded on the west by Turnerts Crossroad, and by Turner's Crossroad extended northerly to the cloverleaf intersection of T. H. No. 55 and T. H. No. 1000 thence the east boundary shall be T.. H. No. 100 (Belt Line), and bounded on the north by the Minneapolis, Northfield and Southern right of way. Polling Place: The Belt Line Fire Station, 1001 North Lilac Drive. - (d) District No. la.. That area bounded on the east by Xerxes Avenue South and by France Avenue South and France Avenue South extended northerly to the intersection of said France Avenue with Glenwood Avenue, bounded on the south by Douglas Avenue and the southern limits of the village, bounded on the west by Raleigh Avenue and Raleigh Avenue extended northerly to the intersection of said Raleigh Avenue with T. H. No. 12 (Wayzata Boulevard), thence the southern boundary shall be T. H. No. 12, bounded on the west by Turner's Crossroad South, -and bounded on the north by Glenwood Avenue (County Road No. 40)• Polling Place: Meadowbrook School, 5430 Glenwood Avenue (e) District No. 5. The area bounded on the east by T. H. No. IOU (Belt -Line), bounded on the south by T. H. No. 55 (Olson Merorial Highway), bounded on the west by Winnetka Avenue North, and bounded on the north by Medicine Lake Road and Medicine Lake Road extended to a point where said Medicine Lake Road extended intersects T. H. No. 100. Polling Place: village Hall, 7830 Sixth Avenue North. (f) District No. 6. That area bounded on the east by Turnerts Crossroad and by Turner's f Crossroad extended to the cloverleaf intersection of T. H. No. 55 (Olson Memorial Highway) and T. H. No. 100 (Belt Line), bounded on the south by "Old Wayzata Boulevard" (County Road No. 41) and thence bounded on the south by T. H. H. No. 55 (Olson Memorial Highway), thence the north boundary shall be /T. H. No. al (Olson Memorial Highway) to a point where said T. H. No. 55 intersects Turner's Crossroad extended. Folling Place: Golden 'Valley Baptist Church, Glenwood Avenue and Harold Avenue. 2. Henceforth, each and every qualified voter shall vote at the polling place established for the election dis- trict within which he resides. 3. It shall not be necessary for any voter other- wise qualified to re -register prior to voting at the polling place in the election district to which he has been assigned by this resolution. 4. The Village Clerk is hereby authorized and instructed to post notice of the adoption of this resolution for a period of sixty (60) days and upon the expiration of which period this resolution shall take effect. A Mayor Atte t• ler The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolu- tion was duly seconded by Member Bies, and on vote being taken thereon, the following members voted in favor thereof: Bies, Foss, Huebsch, Rahn, Stark; and the following voted againest the same: Done; whereupon said resolution was duly declared passed and adopted, and was signed by the Mayor, and his signature sttested by the Clerk. 1 1
