Member Bies introduced the following resolution and MOVED its adoption:
"RESOLUTION MAKING ESTIMATES OF MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT AND
ORDERING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS"
(Miscellaneous, Street and Other Improvements - 1959)
WHEREAS, M.S.A. Sec. 429.041, Subdivision 4 authorizes the Council to
order work for grading, graveling, or bituminous surfacing of streets to be
done by day labor and to hire equipment and purchase materials for all such
improvements in any twelve month period after a single advertisement for bids,
AND WEREAS, the Council contemplates the making of some such improvements
on that basis during the 12 month period commencing May 6, 1959.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE GOLDEN VALLEY,
HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA, AS FOLLOWS:
1. The Council estimates that the following quantities of materials and
the following equipment for the time indicated will be needed on such projects
during the 12 -month period commencing May 6, 1959:

Class 4 Gravel 15,000 Tons
BA -2 Gravel 10,000 Tons
Class 5 Gravel 5,000 Tons
Seal Coat Aggregate 1,500 Tons
MCO -11 Z, 3, 4 25,000 Gallons
RC -2, 3 35,000 Gallons
MC -3 Plant Mix, 3/8" maximun size
aggregates 2,500 Tons
MC -3 Plant Mix, 3/4" miximun size
aggregates 2,500 Tons
2. The specifications prepared by the Clerk are hereby approved.
3. The clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted in the official news-
paper an advertisement for bids for the purchase of such materials for street
improvements under such approved specifications. The advertisement shall be
published for one week, shall call for bids for such materials and equipment,
shall state that bids will be opened and considered by the Council at 7:30 P.M.
on May 19, 1959 in the Council Chambers and that no bids will be opened or
considered unless sealed and filed with the Clerk and accompanied by a cash
deposit, certified check, cashier's check or bid bond payable to the Clerk for
5% of the amount of such bid, based on the estimated total quanity of materials
or time the equipment is to be used multiplied by the unit price.
