#006 01-19-65 Approve Junior College LocationResolution No. 6 January 19, 1965 Member Schaphorst introduced the following resolution and MOVED its adoption: RESOLUTION (Junior College Location) WHEREAS, Northwestern Hennepin County is an area of heavy and in- creasing population density, especially of school age youths, and re- quires Junior College facilities immediately. WHEREAS, the Minnesota Legislature has declared its intent to estab- lish Junior Colleges in the Metropolitan area, WHEREAS, the Village of Brooklyn Park has the land area, the services, and the interested and willing citizenry necessary for the location of a Junior College, WHEREAS, a Junior College in Brooklyn Park would best serve the immed- iate educational needs of the Village of Golden Valley, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Council of Golden Valley does hereby urgently recommend to the Legislature and the Junior College Board that a Junior College be established forthwith in the Village of Brooklyn Park. Mayor e Attest: Village Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member Flannagan and, upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Flannagan, Garis, Schaphorst, and Teresi; and the follow- ing voted against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and his signature attested by the Village Clerk. 1
