#006 01-19-65 Approve Junior College LocationResolution No. 6 January 19, 1965
Member Schaphorst introduced the following resolution and MOVED its
adoption:
RESOLUTION
(Junior College Location)
WHEREAS, Northwestern Hennepin County is an area of heavy and in-
creasing population density, especially of school age youths, and re-
quires Junior College facilities immediately.
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Legislature has declared its intent to estab-
lish Junior Colleges in the Metropolitan area,
WHEREAS, the Village of Brooklyn Park has the land area, the services,
and the interested and willing citizenry necessary for the location of a
Junior College,
WHEREAS, a Junior College in Brooklyn Park would best serve the immed-
iate educational needs of the Village of Golden Valley,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Council of Golden Valley does
hereby urgently recommend to the Legislature and the Junior College Board
that a Junior College be established forthwith in the Village of Brooklyn
Park.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded
by Member Flannagan and, upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted
in favor thereof: Flannagan, Garis, Schaphorst, and Teresi; and the follow-
ing voted against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was declared
duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and his signature attested by
the Village Clerk.
