#273 02-21-67 Oppose Gross Earnings TaxResolution No. 273
February 21, 1967
Member Teresi introduced the following resolution and MOVED its adoption:
RESOLUTION OPPOSING GROSS EARNINGS TAX
WHEREAS the Village of Golden Valley is unalterably opposed to the gross
earnings tax proposed by the Mayors Committee because it is unfair, inequitable
and not necessary and local government should take the lead in attempting to
maintain present operating costs rather than constantly approving increased
expenditures.
WHEREAS the Village of Golden Valley believes that any new taxes imposed at
any level should be replacement tax and not a new burden on the taxpayers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of
Golden Valley that Golden Valley is opposed to the "Gross Earnings Tax".
