#004 01-21-69 Favor Legislation Hennepin County Library System1 Resolution No. 4 January 21, 1969 Member Carlson introduced the following resolution and MOVED its adoption: "RESOLUTION FAVORING LEGISLATION FOR THE EXPANDED HENNEPIN COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM" WHEREAS, the County of Hennepin has provided public Library service to the residents of said county, outside the cities of Minneapolis and Hopkins, since 1922, in communtiies which were able to furnish physical facilities and, WHEREAS, it now appears that there is a need for an expanded library program on a logical coordinated basis, in relation to size and location of library facilities and, WHEREAS, the present law does not permit Hennepin County to bond for the construction and acquisition of library buildings and, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Village Council of the Village of Golden Valley that it favors legislation which would accomplish the following: 1. Permit the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners to issue bonds for the construction and acquisition of library buildings. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Village Council of the Village of Golden Valley is in favor of a library program which would adequately serve the residents of Hennepin County. Passed by the Village Council of the Village of Golden Valley, Hennepin County, Minnesota, this 21st day of January 1969, at which four members were present. ATTEST: Village Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Garis, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following members voted in favor thereof: Bies, Carlson, Garis, Stockman, and Teresi; and the following voted against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor, and his signature attested by the Village Clerk.
