#227 03-15-71 Urge Referendum Proposed County Civic Center17 Resolution No. 227 March 15, 1971 RESOLUTION URGING A REFERENDUM ON THE PROPOSED HENNEPIN COUNTY CIVIC CENTER WHEREAS the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners has proposed construction of a new Civic Center in the City of Minneapolis at a cost of several million dollars; and WHEREAS this Civic Center is proposed to be financed in part by bonding authori- zition received from the Minnesota State Legislature, but has not been voted upon by the citizens of Hennepin County; and WHEREAS in a time of such high governmental tax burdens it is the Golden Valley Village Council's opinion that all expenditures of such a magnitude should be voted upon by the people affected: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of Golden Valley, Minnesota, that it hereby urgently requests the Hennepin County Board of Com- missioners to schedule a referendum -upon the proposed construction of a new Hennepin County Civic Center. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Village Manager is hereby directed to forward copies of this Resolution to members of the Hennepin County Board and also to all municipalities within Hennepin County, urging them to take similar action. Adopted by the City Council this 15th day of March, 1971. Mayor Attest: Village Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member Hoover, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Hoover, Paulson, and Teresi; and the following voted against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and his signature attested by the Village Clerk.
