Member Stockman introduced the following resolution and MOVED its adoption:
RESOLUTION URGING PARTICIPATION BY
METROPOLITAN COUNCIL OF THE TWIN CITIES
IN FUNDING A RECODIFICATION OF ALL LOCAL
CRIMINAL AND TRAFFIC CODES IN THE METROPOLITAN
AREA
WHEREAS, there is a multiplicity of local governments in the seven -county
metropolitan area, and
WHEREAS, each community maintains separate codes for criminal and traffic
offenses which creates a situation of non-uniform law enforcement among
municipal jurisdictions, and
WHEREAS, it appears extremely desirable to modernize and reorganize such
codes on a comprehensive, uniform basis for the benefit of the citizenry and
law enforcement agencies, and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities has access to funds
provided by the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration for such worthwhile
projects, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Golden Valley that
the Metropolitan Council is hereby requested to study and urged to fund a
comprehensive, uniform recodification of all traffic and criminal codes in
the Metropolitan area.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by
Member Ulstad, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in
favor thereof: Paulson, Stockman, Teresi, and Ulstad; and the fallowing
voted against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was declared duly
passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and his signature attested by the
Village Clerk.
