#301 12-20-71 Request Traffic Conditions and Safety TH 100130
Resolution No. 301 December 20, 1971
Member Ulstad introduced the following resolution and MOVED its adoption:
"RESOLUTION REQUESTING ACTION BY THE
STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT TO IMPROVE
TRAFFIC CONDITIONS AND SAFETY ON T.H.
100 AT DOUGLAS AVENUE (WEST 16th STREET)"
WHEREAS, the Village has conducted traffic studies in the area of the inter-
section of T. H. 100 and Douglas Avenue (West 16th Street) in Golden Valley, and
WHEREAS, it is the conclusion of the Village Council that traffic problems exist
in this area due to heavy volumes of traffic using Douglas Avenue (West 16th Street)
as a bypass route from T. H. 100 northbound to T. H. 12 eastbound, and
WHEREAS, in order to remedy the situation there are actions which the Village
Council feels are necessary in the area to protect and ensure the health, safety
and welfare of this neighborhood which involve the Minnesota State Highway
Department, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Golden Valley, Minnesota,
that the Highway Department is hereby requested to:
Modify the intersection of T.H. 100 and Douglas Avenue
(West 16th Street) to eliminate the right turn to Douglas
Avenue (West 16th Street) from northbound T.H. 100
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Village Manager is hereby directed to send
copies of this resolution to the State Highway Department and cooperate in
every way possible to initiate studies and actions to accomplish the above
requested items and desired objectives.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member
Paulson, and upon vote being taken thereon the following members voted in favor
thereof: Hoover, Paulson, Stockman, Teresi, and Ulstad; and the following voted
against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and
adopted, signed by the Mayor and his signature attested by the Village Clerk.
