#336 02-23-72 Joint Powers Agreement Municipal Information SystemResolution No. 336 February 23, 1972 Member Paulson introduced the following resolution and MOVED its adoption: RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO ENTER INTO A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT TO FORM A MUNICIPAL INFORMATION SYSTEM WHEREAS, the Village Council of Golden Valley has determined that there is a need by municipalities in the State of Minnesota for a coordinated approach to meeting municipal needs for electronic data processing; and WHEREAS, it is determined by this Council that the development of a data processing system, as opposed to individual applications of computer- ized data processing, is an objective of this and other municipalities; and 'WHEREAS, the cost of developing and maintaining such a system is ex- cessive for any one municipality; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Village of Golden Valley to utilize an integrated data processing system as and when it becomes operationally feasible; and WEREAS, Section 471.59, Minnesota Statutes, authorizes joint exer- cise by two or more public agencies of any power common to them; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Village of Golden Valley to jointly provide for and maintain a data processing system for mutual advantage and concern; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Golden Valley that it hereby expresses the intent to enter into a joint powers agreement to form a cooperative municipal data processing system; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Administrative Services is hereby appointed the representative of this municipality to serve on a Joint Powers Drafting Committee. Attest: Village Clerk 1 Mayor 171 17 `) Resolution No. 335 February 23, 1972 The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Ulstad, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Paulson, Riggs, Stockman and Ulstad; and the following voted against the same: Mone, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor, and his signature attested by the Village Clerk. 1 1
