#399 08-07-72 Ped Bridge TH 12272 Resolution No. 399 August 7, 1972 Member Hoover introduced the following resolution and MOVER its adoption: RESOLUTION (Proposed Pedestrian Bridge Across U.S. Highway 12) WHEREAS, it appears to the Village Council of the Village Of Golden Valley that there are increasing traffic volumes being experienced on U.S. 12 within the Village, as the same traverses through that area of Golden Valley known as North Tyrol Hills and South Tyrol Hills; and `REAS, due to said ever increasing traffic volume the number of gaps between the traffic is decreasing on a proportionate basis; and WHEREAS, there are a large number of school age children residing on both sides of said U.S. Highway No. 12, and said school age children are finding it increasingly more difficult to commute between South Tyrol Hills and North Tyrol Hills as result of said increasing traffic; and WHEREAS, during after school hours, and vacation periods, when students have no busing facility for use in going from South Tyrol Hills to the Golden Valley Schools located North of U.S. Highway No. 12, said students are finding it virt- ually impossible to get to and from the schools for necessary activities, particularly during peak traffic periods; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Golden Valley that it hereby petitions and requests the State Highway Department for the State of Minnesota to design, estimate and prepare a proposed construction agreement for a pedestrian bridge across U.S. Highway 12 within the Village of Golden Valley at the approximate intersection of said U.S. Highway No. 12 with Tyrol Trail. J Mayor Attest: Village Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Stockman, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: Hoover, Riggs, and Stockman; and the following voted against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and his signature attested by the Clerk. 1 1 1
