Member Hoover introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION
(Approving Walkway and Pedestrian Bridge on Winnetka
Avenue North as part of City Trails Plan)
WHEREAS, as a part of its plan for construction of a trails system and
a pedestrian bridge over State Trunk Highway No. 55 proposed in connection there-
with, the City of Golden Valley has opportunity to engage in a joint project
with the County of Hennepin, State of Minnesota, for the construction of a
portion of said walkway and said pedestrian bridge, and the further opportunity
to receive certain governmental grants in connection therewith, provided formal
approval for said construction is given by the City Council and a city represent-
ative duly appointed with respect to said project;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Golden Valley that it hereby formally approves the construction of a walkway
on the West side of Winnetka Avenue North and the construction of a pedestrian
bridge over State Trunk Highway No. 55 at Winnetka Avenue North, all within the
City of Golden Valley, as a part of the Golden Valley Trails plan heretofore
adopted by this Council on September 4, 1973.
RESOLVED FURTHER that John Brenna, Superintendent of Parks and
Recreation for the City of Golden Valley, be and he hereby is designated as
the official representative for the City of Golden Valley to serve as contact
and liaison official, on behalf of the city, with respect to all grant appli-
cations and advices which may be received in connection therewith as a result
of the involvement of the City of Golden Valley in the aforesaid construction
project.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by
member Anderson and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor
thereof: Anderson, Bix, Hoover, Moberg and Riggs; and the following voted
against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed
and adopted, signed by the Mayor and his signature attested by the Clerk.
