Member Anderson introduced the following resolution and MOVED its adoption:
RESOLUTION
(Open Meeting Law Modification)
WHEREAS, the City of Golden Valley supports the intent of the open
meeting law which is to have the public business conducted openly so that the
public can be informed of the decisions and actions being taken, and
WHEREAS, nevertheless there are certain matters of a confidential nature
which may not be in the public interest at a particular time to disclose publicly,
and
WHEREAS, the Attorney General has rendered an opinion which appears to be
more restrictive than the legislature intended.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Golden Valley respectfully urge the Minnesota State Legislature to consider
changes to the open meeting law which would provide for amendments to the law
as proposed in the draft legislation submitted by the League of Minnesota
Municipalities, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted
to the Governor of the State of Minnesota, Members of the State Legislature
and League of Minnesota Municipalities.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
Member Moberg and upon vote being taken thereon, the following members voted
in favor thereof: Anderson, Bix, Hoover, Moberg and Riggs; the following voted
against the same: None, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed
and adopted, signed by the Mayor and his signature attested by the Clerk.
