#098 10-17-77 Conservation Fund Contingency Hennepin Trail CorridorResolution # 98 Member Swartz introduced and read the written resolution and moved its adoption RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE HENNEPIN COUNTY PARK RESERVE DISTRICT'S EFFORT TO SECURE LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND CONTINGENCY RESERVES FOR THE NORTH HENNEPIN TRAIL CORRIDOR. WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Park Reserve District has poposed the establishment of a 40 miles multi use North Hennepin Trail Corridor; and, WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council in 1974 included the North Hennepin Trail Corridor in its Regional Recreation Open Space Plan; and, WHEREAS, the Golden Valley City and Council has reviewed the concept plan for the proposed Northern Hennepin Trail Corridor; and WHEREAS; the proposed trail corridor may incorporate existing and/or proposed Golden Valley Trails as the route between Medicine Lake and Theordore Wirth Park; and, WHEREAS, The City has been assured by Hennepin County Park Reserve District that the City will have final authority over the location of the proposed trail; and, WHEREAS, the proposed trail corridor will be readily accessible to the residents of Golden Valley, providing an outstanding recreational opportunity; and, WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Park Reserve District intends to submit application for Land and Water Conservation Fund Contingency Reserves for the acquisition and development of the North Hennepin Trail Corridor, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Golden Valley supports the proposed North Hennepin Trail Corridor; FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Cou 1 supports the efforts of the Hennepin County Park Reserve District to secure 1,8nda wa r conservation fund contingency reserves for the acquisition and dek�elop nt of the North Hennepin Trail Corridor".
