Member Stockman introduced and read the written resolution and moved its
adoption:
RESOLUTION DECLARING THE NEED FOR A
HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY IN
GOLDEN VALLEY, MINNESOTA
WHEREAS,'a hearing has been held by the City Council at Golden Valley,
Minnesota, to determine the need for a Housing and Redevelopment Authority to
function in such City; and
WHEREAS, facts have been submitted to this body showing that there is a
need for a Housing and Redevelopment Authority to function in the City of Golden
Valley, Minnesota:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Golden
Valley, Minnesota, that the Council of Golden Valley, Minnesota, hereby finds,
determined and declares:
1. There exists in Golden Valley, Minnesota, substandard or blighted
areas which cannot be redeveloped without the assistance of government;
2. Adequate housing accomodations are not available to veterans and
servicemen and their families;
3. There is a shortage of decent, safe and sanitary dwelling accomodations
available to persons of low income and their families at rentals they
can afford;
4. It is hereby declared that there is a need for a Housing and Redevelop-
ment Authority to function in Golden Valley, Minnesota, and said need
continues to exist.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be of a tive di tely upon
publication.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
Member Johnson and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor
thereof: Anderson, Hoover, Johnson, Stockman and Thorsen and the following voted
against the same; none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and
adopted, signed by the Mayor and his signature attested by the City Clerk.
