#115 09-05-78 Authorize Participate TH 12 Task ForceResolution #115 September 5, 1978 Member Anderson introduced and read the written resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION (Authorizing Participation in Highway #12 Task Force) WHEREAS, the Golden Valley City Council recognizes the necessity to upgrade Highway #12 to better serve the needs of Golden Valley and the over all transportation needs of the Minneapolis and the Western Suburbs and: WHEREAS, the Golden Valley City Council is committted to and supports an improvement program for T.H. #12 and; WHEREAS, T.H. #12 crosses the borders of Golden Valley, Minnetonka,, Minneapolis, Plymouth, St. Louis Park and Wayzata, and; WHEREAS, this creates the need for communities to meet to work cooper- atively to iddntify improvements to T.H. #12 that would be to their common benefit and; WHEREAS, the Mayors of these communities have met to share their ideas about the needs for T.H. #12 and; WHEREAS, further cooperation could best be facilitated through establish- ment of a group of joint community task forces, and; WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has agreed to provide assistance to such task forces and encourages such efforts to provide it with input in preparation of the final environmental impact statement on its request for Federal Interstate Freeway Funds to upgrade T.H. #12 and; WHEREAS, such task forces will not be decision making bodies, but rather each communities representatives will be responsible for reporting back to their respective City Councils who shall retain full authority for committing their communities relative to improvement of T.H. #12. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Golden Valley City Council hereby approves participation in: 1. A task force to study the area from Penn Avenue to Zarthan Avenue to be composed of Representatives of Minneapolis, Golden Valley and St. Louis Park. 2. A task force to study the area blest of Zarthan to and includinq Winnetka to be composed of Representatives from Golden Valley and St. Louis Park. rJ Resolution #115 con't appoint: September 5, 1978 3. A task force to study the interchange and service roads for the County Road #18 interchange (West of Winnetka to County Rd. #73) to be composed of Representatives from Plymouth, Minnetonka, St. Louis Park and Golden Valley. 4. A task force to study the areas West of County Road #73 to Wayzata to be composed of Representatives of Minnetonka, Plymouth Wayzata. FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Golden Valley shall 1. Two Representatives and two alternates, if desired, to the task forces it is named to participate in. 2. Appoints it Mayor who shall, along with the Mayors of other communities,which border T.H. #12 east of 494, and the President of the Minneapolis City Council, meet with MNDOT to monitor the progress of the Task Forces. ROBERT R.HOOVER, MAYOR ATTEST: JOHN MURPHY, CIN CLERK The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Johnson and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Anderson, Hoover, Johnson, Stockman and Thorsen and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and his signature attested by the City Clerk. 1
