Member Johnson introduced and read the following written resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION
JOINT INSURANCE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Golden Valley, along with other local governmental
units in Minnesota has experiencedextreme increases in the cost of providing
Liability, Auto, Property and like insurances and has, likewise, experienced
a shortage of insurance carriers willing to insure certain lines of coverage
for municipalities, and;
WHEREAS, legislation is being proposed to amend Minnesota Statutes
in various sections which would permit municipalities to jointly self -insure
through the formation of an insurance pool and/or mutual insurance company
composed entirely of political subdivisions which would provide an alternative
to help solve the problems referred to above.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Golden Valley that the Legislature of the State of Minnesota informed that
the City of Golden Valley supports the legislation referr ab,ve and urges
the passage of the same at the earliest possible time. ' ' J

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
Member Thorsen and upon vote being taken thereon, the following members voted
in favor thereof: Anderson, Hoover, Johnson, Stockman and Thorsen and the
following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was
declared duly passed and adopted and signed by the Mayor and his signature
attested by the City Clerk.
