Member Stockman introduced and read the written resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION
(Authorizing Further Action on Middle School)
WHEREAS, the Golden Valley City Council has decided to explore in greater
depth the opportunity of acquiring the Golden Valley Middle School for use as
a Community Center, and;
WHEREAS, the City Council needs additional information on the feasibility
of the acquisition before a commitment can be made to acquire the Middle School.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Golden Valley City Council
directs the City Manager to:
1) Enter into negotiations with the Golden Valley School District
for acquisition of the Middle School and related property either
through lease or purchase. The City Council shall appoint a
member of the City Council to serve as a liaison during the
negotiations with the School Board.
2) Seek out tenants for joint occupancy and negotiate firm
commitments.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that when the City Manager reports on the
final results of negotiations with the School Board and tenants and further
when the City Council has received its report from the Brookview Study Committee,
the City Council will then determine whether Golden Vall y business and industry
should be contacted to seek funding to cover the capi renovation costs, so
that the project can be implemented.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member
Johnson and upon vote being taken thereon, the following members voted in favor
thereof: Hoover, Johnson, Stockman and the following voted against the same:
Anderson, Thorsen, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and
adopted, signed by the Mayor and his signature attested by the City Clerk.
