#086 08-06-79 Respect Solicitation and Receipt of Gifts�J 1 C Resolution #86 August 6, 1979 Member Johnson introduced and read the written resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION (Respecting the Solicitation and Receipt of Gifts) WHEREAS, the City of Golden Valley from time to time receives gifts from citizens, businesses, civic groups and foundations, and WHEREAS, State law provides that all gifts received by the City of Golden Valley must be approved by a two-thirds majority of the Council, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Golden Valley City Council does hereby establish the following policy for the receipt of gifts and solicitation of funds: 1. The City Council must give prior approval to any proposal by any City department, City official, or advisory member to solicit funds or equipment. In determining the need for the item to be solicited, the Council shall consider: a. The availability of other City funds. b. The potential conflict of interest in the solicitation of funds from any firm. 2. The solicitation of funds will be limited to either major equipment purchases or capital projects of over $10,000.00. 3. The solicitation of funds for the City shall be the responsibility of the City Manager. /I 4. Offers of unsolicited gifts are subjecttq�fir�FaI before they may be received by the City. / / RT R.
