#185 03-03-80 Approve Car and Mileage PolicyResolution #185 March 3, 1980 Member Johnson introduced and read the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION SETTING CAR AND MILEAGE POLICY WHEREAS, City employees use their own vehicles for City business purposes during business hours; and WHEREAS, certain employees' job responsibilities require them to have access to a vehicle, often times with special equipment, after City hours; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to equitably compensate employees for use of their own personal vehicle; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to encourage the most efficient service to the public by permitting certain employees to take home City vehicles; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 1. Employees required to use their own personal vehicles for City business shall be reimbursed at the rate of 19t per mile. Such reimbursement is subject to submitting documentation on specified City forms with approval of the Department Head, City Manager, and City Council. 2. In lieu of receiving a per mile reimbursement, the following employees shall receive a flat rate monthly payment: City Manager $175.00 per month Deputy Director of Public Safety (2) $125.00 per month Superintendent of Recreation $125.00 per month 3. The following employees are authorized to tkae a vehicle home for storage purposes. Said vehicle may be used by the employees during regular business hours and in the evening for official City business: Director of Public Works Director of Parks & Recreation Park Superintendent Street Superintendent Fire Chief Fire Marshal 4. The Director of Public Safety shall be permitted to use an unmarked police vehicle at all times within emergency radio receiving and transmitting distances. This vehicle may be used after hours in order to ensure that the Director of Public Safety is in radio communication for response to police, fire or civil defense emergencies. RO EMA SEN, MAYOR ATTE T: JOHN MURP , CITY CLERK 1 I� Resolution #185 (continued) The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Mitchell and upon vote being taken thereon, the following members voted in favor thereof: Anderson, Johnson, Mitchell, Stockman and Thorsen, and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and her signature attested by the Clerk.
