#216 06-02-80 Issue Nonintoxicating Liquor at Lions Club ParkResolution #216 June 2, 1980 Member Johnson introduced and read the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION (Authorizing Sale and Consumption of Nonintoxicating Malt Liquor at Lions Club Park) WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Golden Valley has received a request from the Golden Valley Police Association petitioning the City Council to permit the sale and consumption of nonintoxicating malt liquors at a public park within the city known as Lions Club Park; and WHEREAS, Section 300:65 of the City Code for the City of Golden Valley requires that no sale or service of such liquors may be permitted at or upon any public property or public park except by specific resolution of the City Council authorizing such activity; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Golden Valley that it hereby authorizes the Golden Valley Police Association, in connection with the Golden Valley Championship Softball Tournament being sponsored by said Golden Valley Police Association at Lions Club Park within the City of Golden Valley on July 12 and 13, 1980, to sell and serve 3.2 nonintoxicating malt liquors at said Lions Club Park on the said dates of July 12 and 13, 1980. Said sale and service to be conducted during the hours and in such manner as otherwise prescribed by state law, the authority given hereby being in accordance with and pursuant to Section 300:65 of the City Code. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that pursuant to the aforesaid Section 300:65 of the City Code and Section 235:10 of the City Code permission is hereby further given for persons to possess and consume such nonintoxicating malt liquors as may be purchased by them at and upon the aforesaid Lions Club Park within the City of Golden Valley on the aforesaid dates of July 12 and July 13, 1980. RO EM RY THORSE OR ATTEST: JOHN MURPHY, ITY CLERK The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member Stockman and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Anderson, Johnson, Stockman and Thorsen, and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and her signature attested by the Clerk.
