#010 02-17-81 Petition MnDOT for Crossings12 Resolution #10 February 17, 1981 Member Johnson introduced and read the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PETITION TO THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR CERTAIN CROSSINGS IN THE CITY OF GOLDEN VALLEY WHEREAS, there has been expressed to the City Council for the City of Golden Valley, Minnesota, following research and investigation, the need for street crossings at points where the Minneapolis, Northfield and Southern Railway's Spur Track, as located over and across Sections 4 and 5 of Township 117, Range 21 and adjoining Laurel Avenue, in the City of Golden Valley, crosses Colorado Avenue, Florida Avenue, Hampshire Avenue and Louisiana Avenue; and WHEREAS, the City Council for the City of Golden Valley desires that the -Department of Transportation for the State of Minnesota conduct a public hearing, if necessary, in order to determine the necessity for said crossings and a determination of installation of warning devices to provide adequate protection for the traveling public at the above referenced crossings; NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Golden Valley, Minnesota, that the City Attorney petition the Department of Transportation for the State of Minnesota to conduct a public hearing, if necessary, pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 219 of the Minnesota Statutes for a determination of the matter as to whether crossings should be installed at points where the aforesaid Minneapolis, Northfield and Southern Railway's Spur Track crosses Colorado Avenue, Florida Avenue, Hampshire Avenue and Louisiana Avenue in the City of Golden Valley. BE IT RESOLVED FURTHER, in the event that it is determined by the Public Service Commission that these crossings are necessary, the City Council for the City of Golden Valley further petitions the Public Service Commission that it also determine the need for installation of warning devices to provide protection to the traveling public over said crossings and allocate and divide the cost respecting the installation of said warning devices, all in accordance with the manner provided for by the Minnesota Statutes hereinabove referred to.
