#82-002 01-05-82 Issue Services Within Hennepin County21 p Resolution 82-2 January 5, 1982 Member Anderson introduced and read the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE ISSUE OF PROVIDING COMMUNICATIONS/DISPATCH SERVICES WITHIN HENNEPIN COUNTY WHEREAS, the City of Golden Valley has reviewed and analyzed the draft report on Communications/Dispatch Services prepared by the Hennepin County staff; and WHEREAS, the draft report recommends that the "Hennepin County Board of Commissioners should establish a policy that emergency communications and dispatch is most appropriately a County function and responsibility;" and WHEREAS, the County draft report suggests that cities providing their own communications/dispatch services should be taxed for the County providing system in addition to the costs of providing their own system. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Golden Valley as follows: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Golden Valley appoints Mayor Thorsen, Member Mitchell (alternate) and Jeff Sweet to participate on a committee to represent the City's interest in this matter. Section 2. The City Council of the City of Golden Valley takes great exception to the draft County report and requests the committee established in Section 1 to prepare and present a Majority Report representing the 76 percent of the County's population serviced by cities providing their own communications/ dispatch service. Th - ATTEST: 3JfNal ,Deputy ty Cl erk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member Johnson and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Anderson, Johnson, Mitchell and Thorsen, and the following were absent: Stockman, and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and her signature attested by the Deputy City Clerk. 1
