Member Johnson introduced and read the following resolution and moved its
adoption:
RESOLUTION GRANTING LEAVE OF ABSENCE TO ROBERT SHELLUM
WHEREAS, Robert Shellum, a Public Safety employee of the City of Golden
Valley, has requested a leave of absence; and
WHEREAS, he has worked ten years as a good and faithful employee, advancing
from the position of Community Service Officer to Police Sergeant; and
WHEREAS, he has received a major award from the Bush Foundation under the
Bush Leadership Fellows Program for advanced study; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to cooperate with the employee and Bush
Foundation in promoting such education and enrichment of experience while
protecting the job rights of Robert Shellum;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council grant a eleven month
leave without absence without pay, from August 1, 1982 to July 1, 1983 with the
following benefits:
1. The City will continue to pay its contribution to medical insurance
coverage during the leave.
2. Other than the above, during the leave of absence no fringe benefits,
leave accrual or seniority shall be earned or paid.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member
Stockman and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor
thereof: Anderson, Johnson, Mitchell, Stockman and Thorsen, and the following
voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly
passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and her signature attested by the Deputy
City Clerk.
