#82-075 07-20-82 Adopt Changes Employee Handbook3 6 6 Resolution 82-75 July 20, 1982 Member Johnson introduced and read the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION ADOPTING CHANGES IN THE CITY OF GOLDEN VALLEY EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK WHEREAS, it was contemplated when the Employee Handbook was written that there would be a number of changes during each year; WHEREAS, the staff has determined that certain changes are necessary in regard to personnel administration; WHEREAS, the City Council has requested that changes in the Employee Handbook be brought before the City Council in resolution form for adoption and incorporation into the Employee Employee Handbook; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Golden Valley, Minnesota that the following changes be incorporated into the City of Golden Valley Handbook: 1. Section 1.11.3 Discharge All notices of discharge shall be made and given in writing to the affected party. Unless such notice of termination is of a disciplinary nature, said notice shall be delivered to the affected employee at least 14 days prior to the date set therein for termination. 2. Section 1.02.2 Overtime Management employees are considered to be exempt employees, meaning that they are exempt from all overtime. It is recognized that the duties of most supervisors require him/her to devote a great deal of time outside the normal business hours. Supervisors whose positions require working a significant number of hours over the normal 40 hours per week may take time off during the normal business hours, consistent with performing his/her duties as a supervisor. Comp time must first be approved by the supervisor's Department Head and shall not be used for the purposes of vacation extension or time off of more than 8 hours at one time. 3. Section 2.03.3 Holiday Leave and Section 2.01 Who is Eligible Permanent part-time employees working less than 30 hours per week shall be granted holiday pay for any two consecutive holidays granted off in one week (i.e., Thanksgiving).
