91-003 - 01-08 Request Re-Examine 1971 Fiscal Disparities LawResolution 91-3 January 8, 1991 • Member Thompson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: 0 RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE MINNESOTA STATE LEGISLATURE TO REEXAMINE THE 1971 FISCAL DISPARITIES LAW WHEREAS, the Fiscal Disparities Law of 1971 established a program whereby new commercial industrial tax base from the Twin City, seven county metropolitan area since 1971 is pooled and redistributed to local jurisdictions according to a formula based on the population and assessed market value of each community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Golden Valley, Minnesota, to request the Minnesota State Legislature to reexamine the 1971 Fiscal Disparities Law and its impact on cities in the seven county metro area.
