RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE MINNESOTA STATE LEGISLATURE TO
REEXAMINE THE 1971 FISCAL DISPARITIES LAW
WHEREAS, the Fiscal Disparities Law of 1971 established a program whereby
new commercial industrial tax base from the Twin City, seven county metropolitan
area since 1971 is pooled and redistributed to local jurisdictions according to
a formula based on the population and assessed market value of each community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Golden
Valley, Minnesota, to request the Minnesota State Legislature to reexamine the
1971 Fiscal Disparities Law and its impact on cities in the seven county metro
area.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member
Bakken and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor
thereof: Anderson, Bakken, Johnson, Stockman and Thompson; and the following
voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly
passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and her signature attested by the City
Clerk.
