91-069 - 07-16 Authorize Street Right-of-Way Winnetka Ave from Harold Ave to Orkla DriveResolution 91-69 July 16, 1991 Member Stockman introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION BY PURCHASE OR CONDEMNATION OF CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY FOR STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO WINNETKA AVENUE FROM HAROLD AVENUE TO ORKLA DRIVE WHEREAS, the City of Golden Valley is cooperating with Hennepin County in the reconstruction of Winnetka Avenue from Harold Avenue to Orkla Drive; and, WHEREAS, under an agreement with Hennepin County, the City will acquire the right-of-way necessary to undertake this project; and, WHEREAS, it is necessary, desirable and in the public interest for the City to acquire the real property set out in Exhibit A attached hereto for street right-of-way for these improvements; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council for the City of Golden Valley: 1. That it is necessary, desirable and in the public interest to acquire the real property described on Exhibit A attached hereto for street right-of-way purposes for the Winnetka Avenue Project, and the City staff and City attorney, or such other persons as necessary, are hereby authorized and directed to take all necessary steps and execute all necessary documents to acquire such real property; 2. That in the event that the real property described on Exhibit A cannot be expeditiously acquired by negotiated purchase, the City staff and City attorney for the City of Golden Valley are authorized and directed to commence condemnation proceedings to acquire such property; and 3. That the acquisition of such real property is necessary and desirable and constitutes a proper and necessary public purpose.
