Member Johnson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION REQUESTING HENNEPIN COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
TO REDUCE SPEED LIMIT ON DOUGLAS DRIVE (COUNTY ROAD 102)
WHEREAS, a considerable number of children are crossing Douglas Drive
(County Road 102) from Sandburg Middle School; and
WHEREAS, the speed limit of Douglas Drive (County Road 102) north of Golden
Valley is 35 mph; and
WHEREAS, a considerable stretch of Douglas Drive (County Road 102) is
residential in nature in Golden Valley;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Golden
Valley, that the City requests the Hennepin County Department of Transportation
to make a request to the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Transportation
to undertake an engineering study to consider reducing the speed limit on the
following road to 35 mph:
Douglas Drive (County Road 102) from Medicine Lake Road (County Road 70)
to T.H. 55 all within the Golden Valley corporate limits.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member
Russell; and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor
thereof: Johnson, Micks, Russell, Thompson and Tremere; and the following
voted against the same: none; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed
and adopted, signed by the Mayor and his signature attested by the City Clerk.
