96-058 - 06-18 Support Upgrad TH 100 Corridor from Glenwood Ave to I-694/494Resolution 96-58 June 18, 1996 0 Member Russell introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE UPGRADE OF T.H. 100 CORRIDOR FROM GLENWOOD AVENUE TO 1-694/94 AND AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN THE NORTH METRO HIGHWAY 100 COUNCIL, INC. WHEREAS, the original construction of T.H. 100 began in 1931 :and was completed in 1941; and, WHEREAS, T.H. 100 south of Glenwood Avenue has been upgraded and improved; and, WHEREAS, the upgrade and reconstruction of T.H. 100, from Glenwood Avenue to Interstate 694/94, has been scheduled for over 20 years; and WHEREAS, construction proposed for 1995 was delayed until 1997 because of the lack of funding; and WHEREAS, property along this corridor have been off the tax rolls during this entire time; and WHEREAS the corridor is unsafe because of congestion, access and road conditions; and WHEREAS, bridges along the corridor have visible signs of deterioration; and WHEREAS, the air pollution levels exceed maximum standards levels; and WHEREAS, the North Metro Highway 100 Council, Inc. is a non-profit corporation established to communicate the benefits and advantages of expediting the construction and upgrading of Trunk Highway 100 to the general public and decision makers, to act as spokesperson on behalf of the project and to convince decision makers that it is critical to seek a stable transportation funding source for the State of Minnesota. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Golden Valley has identified the upgrade of the T.H. 100 as a priority transportation project, and hereby seeks membership in the North Metro Highway 100 Council, Inc., to encourage efforts of the Minnesota Department of Transportation to schedule the work and to expend the funds necessary to complete the timely upgrading of T.H. 100 corridor through Golden Valley, Robbinsdale, Crystal and Brooklyn Center. Anderson, LeSuer, and Russell; and the following voted against the same: Johnson and Micks; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and her signature attested by the City Clerk.
