—" RESOLUTION REQUESTING HENNEPIN COUNTY TO INSTALL
A FOUR-WAY' STOP AT DULUTH STREET (COUNTY ROAD 66)
AND REGENT AVENUE NORTH IN THE CITY OF GOLDEN VALLEY
WHEREAS, it is extremely difficult for citizens to enter onto Duluth Street from Regent Avenue
North without taking undue risks; and
WHEREAS, the topography of the intersection adds to the risks; and
WHEREAS, Regent Avenue North is the collector for residential properties, particularly from
the south, to access Duluth Street; and
WHEREAS, Mn/DOT plans for the reconstruction of T.H. 100 will limit access to the residential
area, reducing options available and placing even more stress on the intersection; and
WHEREAS, a temporary four-way stop was placed at the intersection during the
reconstruction of Noble Avenue North during the summer of 1996 and proved that a four-way stop at
the intersection did not cause traffic problems on Duluth Street; and, in fact, created a safer
intersection; and
WHEREAS, the City has been contacted and petitioned by a number of residents in the area
confirming their perception of a much safer intersection with the four-way stop, signs in place.
