97-050 - 07-01 Supporting Use of GO Bonds for North Hennepin Regional Trail Resolution 97-50 July 1, 1997 Member LeSuer introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION SUPPORTING USE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS AS ADVANCE FUNDING FOR COMPLETION OF NORTH HENNEPIN REGIONAL TRAIL WHEREAS, the Suburban Hennepin Regional Park District (Hennepin Parks) Board of Commissioners has voted to fund the completion of the North Hennepin Regional Trail, in its entirety: WHEREAS, this regional trail traverses the City of Golden Valley and will benefit the citizens by creating an off-road transportation link and recreational trail through northern suburbs which is proposed to connect the Cities of Maple Grove, Plymouth, Golden Valley, Minneapolis, Brooklyn Center, and Brooklyn Park; and WHEREAS, Hennepin Parks has demonstrated its knowledge and experience in designing, constructing and operating regional trails in a high quality manner that is supportive of natural resources preservation and public safety; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Golden Valley supports Hennepin Parks acquisition, development and management of the North Hennepin Regional Trail and will continue to assist and coordinate with Hennepin Parks to provide the best possible regional corridor; and The City of Golden Valley supports Hennepin Parks' initiative to use General Obligation bonds to advance the funding necessary for the completion of the North Hennepin Regional Trail and to secure timely reimbursement of said funding from the State of Minnesota and Metropolitan Council's Regional Open Space Capital Improvement Program.
